To ensure a better voter turnout on the coming May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, Rep. Frederick Siao is asking President Duterte to declare it a special non-working holiday nationwide.

 

He also urged the Commission on Election to publicly clarify sooner than later, how it will address thje issues of: a) there are no candidates running in many SK polls and b) how the winner/s will be determined in SK elections wherein candidates are running unopposed.

Real narco-politicians’ list remains classified

DAYS after the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) released what they referred to the PRRD narco list, the real drug list of barangay officials believed to be involved in the lucrative drug trade in the country remains “classified.”

No less than the PDEA spokesman Derreck Carreon, in an online conversation, made the indirect statement which appears bent on saying more than the sentences he, himself typed on his gadget.

Only legitimate service providers through institutional contract of service, which are duly registered with the Departments of Labor and Employment, Trade and Industry; the Bureau of Internal Revenue; the Securities and Exchange Commission, Social Security System, the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-Ibig) and Philippine Health Insurance Corp. should be responsible for providing compensation and benefits that are complaint with existing labor laws.

SMFI resumes college scholarships

After a one-year transition to the K to 12 program of the government, SM Foundation Inc. resumed its college scholarship program with hundreds of new scholars signing simultaneously throughout the country their memorandum of agreement to the program.
