VINDICATED!

FINALLY justice is served!!!

That’s the public’s general sentiment over the Supreme Court decision to release former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from detention.

That it was the SC that corrected an injustice to this embarrassing episode of our justice system cannot be more refreshing.

And it could not have come at a better time since it came weeks after the new President was inducted to office and less than a week before delivers his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) cannot be more reassuring.

FLYING CARPET

THINKING out of the box or out of the window?

This poser comes to mind after Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade obviously desperate to solve Metro Manila’s terrible traffic crisis revealed during an interview that they are seriously (emphasis ours) studying the possibility of putting up cable cars to solve the problem.

GMA SOLUTION

Malthusian theory

IT’S PLEASING to learn that former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is back in harness, looking very hale and hearty.

Now congressman from Pampanga, GMA has announced she would file the proposed "Metro Manila Traffic Crisis Act of 2016", a bill seeking to grant newly installed President Rodrigo "Rody" Duterte emergency powers to address the economy-threatening conundrums in the streets of the metropolis.

GMA proposes a number of measures authorizing Duterte to enter into negotiated contracts for traffic and transportation projects without bidding, and to reorganize the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), among other prerogatives.

The emergency authority is…

(GRRRRR!) HELLISH!

GIVEN the severe punishment being endured daily by millions of motorists and commuters due to hellish traffic situation in Metro Manila, there is an extreme urgency for the incoming Duterte administration to look for and introduce quick yet effective solutions.

EXTRAORDINARY COMMITMENT

However, there is no need to give incoming President Rodrigo Duterte emergency powers as proposed by some quarters.

Rather what is needed is an extraordinary commitment and dedication especially by the people he assigned to address the transport woes.

These newly appointed officials led by Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade should not forget that they are there to serve…
