FLYING CARPET

THINKING out of the box or out of the window?

This poser comes to mind after Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade obviously desperate to solve Metro Manila’s terrible traffic crisis revealed during an interview that they are seriously (emphasis ours) studying the possibility of putting up cable cars to solve the problem.

Seriously is the operative word here since Tugade seems determined to put up the cable car system which he said would traverse from Makati all the way to Sta. Rosa in Laguna and vice versa.

Also, to further prove that he was serious with his proposal, he averred that…

GMA SOLUTION

Malthusian theory

IT’S PLEASING to learn that former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is back in harness, looking very hale and hearty.

GIVEN the severe punishment being endured daily by millions of motorists and commuters due to hellish traffic situation in Metro Manila, there is an extreme urgency for the incoming Duterte administration to look for and introduce quick yet effective solutions.

EXTRAORDINARY COMMITMENT

However, there is no need to give incoming President Rodrigo Duterte emergency powers as proposed by some quarters.

Rather what is needed is an extraordinary commitment and dedication especially by the people he assigned to address the transport woes.

These newly appointed officials led by Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade should not forget that they are there to serve…

SOME guys have all the luck.

Such is the case of incoming Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II who despite his questionable background and record as a practicing lawyer was still chosen by newly proclaimed President Rodrigo R. Duterte as one of the members of his soon to be formed Cabinet.

PARTIALLY CORRECT

In his first media briefing after his formal proclamation, Duterte admitted he was having a hard time choosing his Cabinet members but he assured the nation that his nominees are ‘all men of honesty and integrity’.

Duterte is only…
