BSP eases rules on foreign exchange

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas announced Friday that it had further relaxed some rules on foreign exchange to further open up the economy through a more liberal policy environment.

 

In a press release, the BSP said the reforms aim to promote greater ease in the use of FX resources of the banking system for legitimate needs by relaxing further FX rules and streamlining procedures and requirements.

2nd passenger terminal breaks ground in Clark

The second passenger terminal, touted as the first hybrid PPP program, will operate by 2020 in Clark International Airport, with the groundbreaking held by Duterte administration officials last Wednesday.

 

A project of the Bases Conversion Development Authority and the Department of Transportation, the second terminal is expected to accommodate 8 million passengers a year (from 4.8 million) once operational and would boost investments, tourism and other areas in Clark and the province of Pampanga.

Need for Magna Carta of Patient Rights & Obligations pushed

In the wake of the controversy over Dengvaxia, a vaccine to prevent and contain dengue spread in the country, Rep. Bernadette Herrera Dy of Bagong Henerasyon Partylist and chairman of the committee on public information, pushed for the Magna Carta on Patients’ Rights and Obligations, a measure she authored at the lower chamber.

 

In a statement, Herrera-Dy said the “unraveling Dengvaxia debacle clearly shows the need for and effective enforcement of a Magna Carta of Patient Rights and Obligations as embodied in House Bill 1038 which I authored and filed.”
