Subic-Clark Railway Project gets greenlight

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)- Investment Coordination Committee-Cabinet Committee (ICC-CabCom) recently approved the Subic-Clark Railway Project, which will provide rail freight connection between Subic Bay and Clark Freeport Zone. Its cost has risen from P355.58 billion to P356.96 billion, or by P1.357 billion.

 

This joint project of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) is one of the Duterte Administration’s 75 flagship projects.

House deliberates on LGBT bill

The House Committee on Women and Gender Equality began deliberations on HB 6595 that would grant LGBT (lesbian, gays, bisexual and transgender) formal recognition and grant them conjugal partnership, property and family relations rights.

NEDA, PPP Center revs up local PPPs

To ensure faster implementation of public private partnership (PPP) projects in the local level, the National Economic and Development Authority and the PPP Center are setting up PPP Knowledge Corners in 15 NEDA Regional offices across the country, following the signing of a memorandum of agreement to this effect. The MOA was signed by NEDA Secretary Ernesto Pernia and PPP Executive Director, Undersecretary Ferdinand Pecson.

The National Commission on Culture and the Arts has lined up month-long activities for April, the month of the Filipino language. The array of events is aptly dubbed as Pingkian buwan ng Panitikan ng Filipinas.

 

The events include contests on: a) paglikha ng kundiman; b) pagbasa ng pasyon; c) pagsulat ng kuwentong bayan; d) pagawit ng laji; e) bagong pagtula ng epikong bayan; f) pingkian ng mga kaalaman sa pagtitipon tulad ng kampong balagtas; kumperensya sa epikong bayan; palihan sa pagsulat ng pampanitikan; pagsasalin ng akdang Sebwano; Philippine International Literary Festival; Capiztahan; and kongreso ng mga manunulat.

 

These activities are collaborated and organized by the NCCA and the National Book Development Board.

Show business is again in mourning this time for prize winning film director Maryo  J. de los Reyes who succumbed to heart attack late this week in Dipolog City in Mindanao when he attended a party upon the invitation of a friend.
