Amid the relentless campaign against illegal drugs by the Duterte administration, a bill that passed the lower house on the compassionate use of medical marijuana may just negate all efforts to solve the illegal drugs scourge.


Already, newly-appointed Health Secretary Francisco Duque III—erstwhile head of the Civil Service Commission—is pushing for the medical marijuana, which senators vows to oppose fiercely, including Duque’s confirmation for the post.

IT COULD not have come at a more perfect time.

The country’s toll roads are prepared to take in the hundreds of thousands of motorists and passengers who are expected to troop to the provinces to pay respects to their dear departed ones during this year’s observance of All Saints and All Souls Days.

The announced replacement of Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella with erstwhile human rights lawyer, Rep. Harry Roque, prompts people to ask: Who gains, Roque or Abella? 

Without a doubt, it is difficult, to say the least, to defend the human rights violations being committed under the Duterte administration, whether or not the President sanctions, encourages or allows them. 

More difficult it is to portray a human side to the President, whose acerbic tongue and disposition had piqued several citizens—many of them who supported his presidency only to be dismayed later.…

Grab, Uber are new targets of criminals

Uber and Grab are now the favorite hunting grounds of carnappers and robbers and one like  Grab driver Gerardo Amolato Maquidato, Jr being even killed last October 27.


Similarly color- coded alarms and added security must be provided by transport network vehicle service (TNVS) operators and per- trip micro-insurance must be given to commuters of these TNVS.


These schemes were proposed by Rep. Neil Abayon of AAngat Tayo partylist and assistant minority leader recently, in response to these hazards faced by both drivers and commuters of Grab and Uber.

A mentor dialogues with another mentor
