Farming, for the most part, is associated with the unlettered, lowly and overworked rural planter whose toils feed the population. 

Quite a few wealthy people take delight (as a weekend hobby) in soiling their hands and getting callouses on their feet and soft hands as a result of long exposure to soil, sand and chemicals from fertilizers and pesticides, which for many have caused severe illnesses.

Do we need a supplemental budget to cushion inflation upticks?

With the twin pressures of rising inflation—brought about by skyrocketing fuel prices abroad that is feared to reach $100 per barrel and a continuous weakening of the peso that would push the cost of borrowing money—there might be a need to create a supplemental budget to cushion these economic disruptions.

National Fuel Reserve pushed

To shield the country from mad swings in fuel prices—a cartelized commodity abroad—Rep. Ciriaco Calalang of Kabayan partylist is proposing the creation of a national fuel reserve under the control of the Energy Regulatory Commission. 

“Our country needs a fuel reserve inventory similar in concept to the rice inventory of the National Food Authority” (even if NFA’s inventory function is largely a failure).
