Unlike many schools in the United States where active shooting in school campuses and classrooms have claimed many lives, the Philippines is also saddled with gun control problems as a result of so many loose firearms being used against innocent individuals.

The reported sale of Uber of its entire Southeast Asia business to Grab has caused fears of a possible monopoly of the transportation network company (TNC) sector, or ride sharing, in the country.

 

 

 

Rep. Ciriaco Calalang, Kabayan partylist, said given this new development,  the Philippines now suddenly finds itself with a ride-hailing service monopoly—a situation that is not good for the riding public because of the lack of competition and competitive pricing.

Rep. Bernadette Herrera-Dy of Bagong Henerasyon partylist and chairman of the Committee on Women & Gender Equality, suggested that MIASCOR personnel form a transport service cooperative and take over ground handling operations at the airports.

 

They must, however, commit to defend their honor and stamp out baggage theft and unauthorized access to baggage. Both options will address both the unemployment issue and the continuity of operations of the airport services.

Top placers in Metrobank math tilt were from public schools

Public schools have managed to dislodge the dominance of famed science schools and Filipino-Chinese schools in the recent math quest held by Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd, according to Rep. Salvador Belaro Jr. of 1-Ang Edukasyon partylist.

The top three students came from public schools like Renato Lopez Elementary School, Alimodian Central Elementary School and Iloilo National High School.

BIR asked if April 15, a Sunday, will still be deadline for annual ITR filing

Rep Henry Ong, 2nd district of Leyte and vice chair of the committee on banks and financial intermediaries, is asking the Bureau of Internal Revenue if its April 15 deadline for filing of income tax returns would still hold, considering it falls on a Sunday.

 

Individual income tax payers who are not exempted from filing their annual income tax returns may start filing their yearly ITR even before the April 15 deadline stated in the law.
