Fund rice production with subsidies from imports

By Rose de la Cruz

An urgent proposal made to President Duterte of using funds to buy imported rice at 800,000 metric tons under Executive Order No. 23 to subsidize local production was raised in a letter that was published by the Inquirer early January.

Duterte asked to create a Benham Rise authority

By Rose de la Cruz

To avoid confusion and future disputes with China and other nations, President Duterte is being asked to create an authority that would govern and oversee any possible exploration and research operations in the Benham Rise, whose name is also being changed to Philippine Rise.
