Imelda Papin shoots balloons in shootfest; Mark Lapid wins

 By Boy Villasanta

Instead of shooting bull’s eyes’ targets in a range, Actors Guild of the Philippines president Imelda Papin shot balloons. And it was one hell of fun.

The occasion was the annual Shootfest organized by the Katipunan ng mga Artista ng Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon (KAPPT) held at the Amscor Shooting Ranges in Amscor Avenue, Barangay Fortune in Marikina City.

Shooters among stars displayed their shooting agility in the whole-day affair spearheaded not only by Imelda but Amay Bisaya, Val Iglesias, Boy Roque, Perry de Guzman, Ricardo Cepeda and the rest of the…

Good actors never die. They just take a break from their art.

Actor Romnick Sarmenta is one of them. Sidelined by his other extracurricular activities like his restaurant business and assisting his wife Harlene Bautista in supporting the domestic life of brother-mayor Herbert Bautista, Romnick is back on his acting chops as a contract star, this time, of ABS-CBN.  During her reign as Charice Pempengco, she was feted no end as one of the pride of Iglesia ni Cristo, as a member one of the most popular religious organization in the Philippines.

But when she decided to live her life the way she wanted it including her gender preference and adopted the screen name Jake Zyrus, she was easily eased out of the sect.

The INC brother was referring to the conversion of Charice to a transman as Jake Zyrus which doesn’t sit well with the beliefs and policies of their church.

According to the INC member, their teachings don’t match the realities which have gravitated Jake’s chosen life.

Although the INC hierarchy has still to pronounce publicly its decision on the case of Zyrus, the member is certain the international singer isn’t part of their group at the moment.

By Boy Villasanta

Will it still be a sad Christmas for Lani Mercado and her family this year because her husband Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. is still in jail?

In her past interviews, Lani had expressed her fervent prayer that Bong be already released from detention so that she and her family could sing a happy “Pasko na Sinta Ko (It’s Christmas Darling),” Christmas song popularized by singer Gary Valenciano.

But when veteran entertainment writer Alice Vergara paid Ramon Revilla, Jr. a visit recently at the Custodial Center of Camp Crame where the senator is detained, she said that…
