A lot of couples—married or not—express their love and other sentiments by texting or online messaging. No matter how far apart they are, they feel they are beside each other, especially if they use Skype or other visually-aided communication platform.

 

However, arguments (and sometimes separation) can also result from one or both persons being overly-devoted to or overusing the devices, even in a face-t-face encounter.

 

In fact, a study of the Kaspersky Lab showed that 55 percent of couples argue about device overuse.

NEDA urges proactive measures against inflationary push

The government must continue to be proactive in maintaining price stability and cushioning the impact of higher consumer prices on the poor following the uptick in inflation in March 2018, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said.

 

The country’s headline inflation reached 4.3 percent – breaching the government’s full-year inflation target of 2.0 to 4.0 percent. This is higher compared to the rates recorded in the previous month and during the same period last year.

Ramon S. Ang’s proposal to build an airport in Bulacan and the Davao Food Complex is now pending final approval by the board of the National Economic and Development Authority, chaired by President Duterte, after the Investment Coordinating Committee endorsed it.

 

The Bulacan Airport Project is worth P735.63 billion and involves an unsolicited proposal for the construction of a terminal, parallel runway and airport toll road to be able to accommodate 100 million passengers per annum by its opening in 2023.

Unilab’s ‘Play It Forward’ program for Mayon children

Since the eruption of Mayon Volcano in January, which prompted the evacuation of 82,000 individuals (or 21,000 families), the Unilad Foundation provided children- evacuees a stress-coping program called “Play It Forward” to help them heal and recover from the trauma faster.

 

While food, water and shelter are essential, these are not enough, especially for children who are deprived of a fundamental right: the right to play.

Philhealth benefitted poor Filipino children

Filipino children from poor households who are part of the government’s health insurance program have increased access to health care, both for preventive and curative care.

According to the study of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, a government think tank, Filipino children who are insured are 8.7 to 12.8 percent more likely to visit a healthcare facility, compared to those who are non-insured.
