Faeldon faces dismissal

MEMBERS of the House of Representatives investigating the shipment of P 6.4 billion worth of shabu in the country have recommended the dismissal of Bureau of Customs chief Nicanor Faeldon due to “gross incompetence and corruption”. 

Surigao Rep. Robert Barbers, chairman of the House committee on dangerous drugs noted that Faeldon centralized all powers in his office by creating a command center.

The said office reportedly has sole control of all operations in the agency despite being created without the permission of the Department of Finance (DOF) even as he did not release a memorandum order when he created it. 

Barbers said it was a clear sign of incompetence and that Faeldon should be replaced by somebody who is up to the tasks required of a BOC chief.

President Rodrigo Duterte however earlier said that he believes in the integrity of Faeldon but sadly he was surrounded by some corrupt officials in the agency. (Ehlorra Mangahas)
