If only Digong Has a Touch of Erap!

LAST month, on Wednesday, April 19, was the 80TH Birthday of former President and now Manila City Mayor Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada. That night, he shared his birthday dinner with a thousand guests.

While requesting that those who wanted to give birthday gifts to instead donate to his charitable foundation, he gifted each invited guest with a Cherry Smart phone.

For both Father and Grandfather Erap, the birthday program for the evening was truly star studded. The main features were song and dance numbers by his children and grandchildren.

Technology for Everybody

WE don’t have to worry about the digital natives, because they were born into the digital era and they could do very well in the electronic age.

We also do not have to worry about the non-millennial people who have adopted quickly into the new age, even if they are actually digital migrants, so to speak.

The April 6 Liberation Movement!

IN our recollection of significant anniversaries, commemorations and dates in the month of March, we forgot the Death Anniversary of our seventh President of the Republic of the Philippines, Ramon del Fierro Magsaysay.

He was born on August 31, 1917 in Zambales. He became a guerilla leader and a congressman. He was produced and directed by the US CIA under USAF/CIA Edward Landsdale into a modern - day Hero and Savior.

President Elpidio Syquia Quirino appointed him as the Secretary of National Defense. He defeated the Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas (PKP) and the Hukbong Magpapalayas a Bayan (HMB).…

Duterte, the chief architect of foreign policy

THE concept of the word "influential", in reference to the list of the world's most influential leaders, does not distinguish between good and bad personages.

Convergence of Policy and Technology

I HAVE always wondered why there is a very long technology lag in this country, sometimes extending to about fifty years or more.

Why does it take too long for technology to take root here from the time it was invented abroad?

Of course, there could be many answers to that question, but it seems to me now that the best answer is that more often than not, there are no policy frameworks that would encourage and govern the adoption of such technologies.

Not that I would want to make it sound too simplistic, but it seems…
