Briones tightens rules on suppliers

By Chito Junia

THE Department of Education (DepEd) has tightened its suppliers’ accreditation and bidding procedures, especially in its computer procurement program, after problems and allegations of corruption in its earlier procurement of computers were reported.

In an effort to curb corruption in her agency, Education Secretary Leonor M. Briones also earlier ordered that the number of the members of Bids and Awards Committee be increased from three to five.

The move is seen to spread the billions of pesos worth of contracts to several committees and to avoid fraternization between DepEd officials and suppliers.

PRES. DUTERTE’S WAR on DRUGS VS WAR on POVERTY

The DUTERTE Administration must now see the “writing on the wall”.

The recent news of a Japanese national selling FOOD for a CAUSE never happened before. This is because he has seen extreme poverty in the Philippines.

The continuing WAR ON DRUGS in Marawi City could happen in other cities anytime. The immediate declaration of Martial Law in the area was timely to save the city.

The issue may be rephrased, vidilicet, "was there already rebellion when government forces entered Marawi City last May 23?"

Government lawyers have orally argued before the Supreme Court that military intelligence reports unearthing rebellious activities had caused the sending of troops to protect the city and its residents, and that when they got there, the city was already well…

War against IS

THE war against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (IS, for short) is a rule-changing kind of global war never before experienced by mankind.
