MRT-3 shutdown could disrupt Metro commerce

AS MUCH as Malacanang Palace wants to give in to the suggestion of Sen. Grace Poe to temporarily stop operations of the state-owned Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) until all technical problems are fixed, it could not do so because this would cause great inconvenience to the public.

Palace spokesman Harry Roque said that aside from great inconvenience, stopping MRT-3’s operations might disrupt economic activities in Metro Manila, which is heavily reliant on the aging mass transport system.
