It’s going to be a very long weekend for students and workers.

But only for those living, studying and working in Metro Manila, Bulacan, and Pampanga as certain activities and meetings will be held here for the ASEAN Summit which the Philippines hosts.

Malacañang has declared Monday to Wednesday, November 13, 14, and 15, as special non-working holidays in these areas, making the previous days a long weekend.

Before this, classes both in public and private schools in Metro Manila were suspended in all levels on Thursday and Friday, November 16 and 17, the main events of the 31st ASEAN Summit in the National Capital Region. This was before President Duterte’s Proclamation 332, issued October 23.

Various Summit activities will be held in Metro Manila and at Clark Field in Pampanga.

Bulacan was included in the proclamation, as the province will also be affected by ongoing ASEAN activities. This was on recommendation by the ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council. (Mico Agustin)
