The chairman of the House Committee on Public Information reminded her colleagues to make sure that the recent fatal hazing incident at the University of Santo Tomas will be top of their minds in their legislative work.
 
In  a statement Bernadette Herrera-Dy said as chair of the House Committee on Public Information, I am concerned that with the emergence of new hot news and issues, the hazing death of Horacio "Atio" Castillo, III will be forgotten or buried as a painful memory.

Vigilance must be sustained, she said, adding that the death of Atio ought to be the last hazing death.…

To Deter Crime, For Safety Monitoring: Now Come Affordable CCTVs, GPS For PUVs

TO PREVENT crime in public utility vehicles, Aasenso Partylist Rep. Teodoro Montoro has filed a bill requiring drivers and their operators to install affordable security gadgets like closed circuit television and global positioning systems in their vehicles.

Montoro’s House Bill 6112, otherwise known as Public Utility Vehicle Monitoring Act, to compel the installation of safety monitoring devices on PUVs and providing penalties for violations.

The lawmaker sees the proposal as a means to deter violence and help in gathering the needed information to help prosecute the perpetrators of crimes.

SSS opens bigger, but free-rent, branch in Cubao

With a spike of about 21,000 additional transactions in the first half of 2017 alone, the Social Security System (SSS) branch in Cubao transferred to a bigger location in Puregold Building along Aurora Boulevard but still saved from rent-free arrangements.  

SSS-Cubao facilitated 326,889 transactions during the first semester of 2017, higher by seven percent from the same period of last year.
