Iligan City is a growing source of football players

At the recent 3rd Congressman Frederick Siao Football Festival, 100 teams and over 1,100 players who participated and competed in seven categories came from the grassroots teams of Iligan City. These categories were under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, Men’s Open, Ladies’ Open and 35-Above.


Football, the world's number one sport, is alive and active in Iligan City. 


The football tournament was held at the Ludo Football Field in Sitio Bayug, Barangay Santiago from September 23 to 24 in conjunction with the Diyandi Festival of Iligan City.

DSWD’s 4Ps program under fire

SENATOR Loren Legarda has taken to task the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) over its failure to hand over to some two million Filipino families their allowances that were supposed to be given in December 2017 under the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program.

The lawmaker noted that the ‘undelivered’ money amounted to a total of P3.9 billion at P1,400 per family, which she said should be a big help for them especially  with the rapidly rising cost of food and basic commodities in the country,

Expert x-ray operators at BOC eyed

WITH the sophistication that drug smuggling is now being conducted, Senator Richard J. Gordon is proposing that the Bureau of Customs (BOC) should hire x-ray machine operators with expertise on drug and other contraband detection.

Gordon made the suggestion during the recent hearing conducted by the Senate blue ribbon committee on the P6.8-billion drugs that passed through the BOC x-rays after being stuffed inside electronic magnetic lifters.

Legarda hails DBM’s ‘greening’ program

SENATOR Loren Legarda has lauded the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for its Green, Green, Green Program aimed at making the country’s cities more livable and sustainable.

“I congratulate and commend the DBM, and express my full support for its program to create public open spaces in our cities. I am glad that we have a budget secretary who not only understands ‘Build, Build, Build’, but also embraces and espouses ‘Green, Green, Green’,” said Legarda.
