Micro small businesses fall prey to hackers

Because one in three of micro small businesses (with under 50 employees) entrust their cybersecurity concerns to non-specialists, they are the easiest victims to hackers’ malicious wares (malwares).

 

They are lucrative propositions for cyber criminals because of the data they hold on behalf of their clients and employees. This can fetch a high price if sold or ransomed and can be the gateway for revenue streams for enterprising criminals.

Cyber criminals targeted 400 industrial groups

By sending out legitimate looking emails, cyber criminals have targeted 400 industrial groups in an attempt to earn money.

 

Kaspersky Lab researchers detected the new wave of financial spear-phishing emails disguised as legitimate procurement and accounting letters that started in autumn 2017 targeting the companies’ PCs of industries from oil and gas, to metallurgy, energy, construction and logistics.
