Nigerian teen slain for witchcraft body parts

DESPITE great advances in science and technology in this day and age, many people still believe in the practice of black magic and witchcraft to bring good luck, cure illnesses and to some extent even harm others.

The most common form of doing witchcraft rituals is when a shaman or witch doctor makes concoctions that are usually made of different herbs, animal and human body parts and oils along with incantations.

But in Nigeria, witchcraft reared its ugly head after a 17- year old girl was reportedly kidnapped before being mutilated for her body parts to be used in rituals.

Three people have been arrested, including a man who allegedly confessed that he killed the victim and sold some of her body parts to a witch doctor for $25 or more than Php 1,000.

The killers said that the girl’s decapitated body was thrown away into a well in Ogun State.

The recipient ‘witch doctor’ is also in detention and has admitted to receiving human body parts, but said he did not contract the killing.

The victim’s father narrated that the girl was selling street snack foods when she was snatched by the suspects.

The suspects are yet to be charged in the court.
