Govt expects P600-B from tax policy reforms

FINANCE Secretary Carlos Dominguez said the Duterte administration aims to raise some P600 billion by 2019 through the implementation of its proposed reforms in tax policy and administration.

The amount will be used to finance its priority investments in infrastructure, human capital development and social protection for the poor.

Dominguez said the amount, which represents 3 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), would come in part from implementing tax administration reforms in the Bureaus of Internal Revenue (BIR) and of Customs (BOC).

COA tags 10 GOCCs for failing to remit P68B

STATE auditors have taken to task ten government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs) after failing to remit dividends amounting to P68.7 billion to the government treasury for the past 10 years.

In its 2015 Annual Financial Report on GOCCs, COA auditors said the erring GOCCs violated the provisions of Republic Act 7656 or the GOCC Dividend Law for their failure to declare, record, remit or under-remit their dividends.

The erring agencies face the penalty of a fine not less than Ten thousand pesos (P10,000.00) but not more than Fifty thousand pesos (P50,000.00) or imprisonment of not less than one (1)…

Population programs must invest in 10 year old girls

WITH 10 as the new age of fertility, girls at this age must be the focus of government and private interventions in education, population control and opening opportunities for their growth, as they are the most vulnerable to sexual abuse and societal deprivation.

Alarm bells raised on proposed joint exploration between PH, China

POLITICAL analysts have raised the issue of sovereignty as one of the factors that could pose as a hindrance  in the proposed joint oil exploration deal between the Philippines and China in the disputed West Philippine Sea.
