More than 265,000 borrowers of Social Security System (SSS) short-term loans have benefited from affordable payment terms and conditional condonation of loan penalties under the ongoing SSS Loan Restructuring Program (LRP) within just five months since its launch.

In a press statement, SSS Assistant Vice President for Member Loans Department Boobie Angela A. Ocay said that the LRP, which opened its one-year availment period last April 28, already helped 265,705 member-borrowers settle their overdue loan obligations of P4.28 billion based on figures as of end-September 2016.

STATE pension fund Social Security System (SSS) has honored iRemit Inc. with a special citation as collecting partner for contribution and loan payments of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) at the Balikat ng Bayan Awards during the SSS 59th anniversary program at the Ramon Magsaysay Hall of the SSS main office in Diliman, Quezon City.

Due to its strong and consistent performance in providing convenient and reliable payment services for SSS members based overseas, the Filipino-owned remittance company won as SSS Best OFW Collecting Partner for four straight years since 2010. It joined the distinguished Balikat ng Bayan Hall of Fame in 2014.

Elites in Cabinet oppose moratorium on land conversion

OVER a month after President Rodrigo Duterte declared a two-year moratorium on land conversion, as pushed by militant leader and now Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael “Ka Paeng” Mariano, his economic team has crafted a position paper pushing instead for strengthening of land use administration.

TO ENSURE that only foreigners would get to play and enjoy the thrill of online gambling, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has decided to come up with new and more stringent rules on cyber gaming.
