NOT A “PRO-POOR” BET

Clearly, Vice-President Jejomar Binay is not the “pro-poor” and the “pang-masa” candidate he has always marketed himself to the voters.

If he really is running to help uplift Filipino people, as he always claims in his political sorties, he should never have opposed the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), the landmark social-welfare program of the Aquino administration.

Formerly lambasted by Binay as a virtual “bribe” offered by the administration to gain leverage in the 2016 elections, the 4Ps now earns the full support of the UNA presidential candidate, who has promised to add more teeth to the program – quite…

TRAFFIC KILLS

TRANSPORTATION Secretary Jun Abaya was quoted as saying recently that monstrous traffic jams could be affecting thousands of people daily, but at least it’s “not fatal” (hindi nakamamatay).

How insensitive can Abaya be?

As expected, Abaya’s off the cuff remarks immediately earned for him a deluge of criticisms from the public, forcing him to eventually backtrack and apologize.

ANOTHER BIG BLOW

THE PUNCHES just keep on coming.

Vice President Jejomar Binay suffered yet another blow in his quest to win the presidency in next year’s national elections after the Makati Business Club rated his office as the worst-performing government agency among all 64 government offices assessed in a recent survey.

The ranking of the OVP took a steep plunge during the 2nd Semester 2015 MBC Executive Outlook Survey, in which it skidded 31 notches from last year’s poll to rank last among all government agencies after earning the lowest net satisfaction rating of -76.3.

Several club members later revealed that…

CHEATS

The government is again spending billions of pesos in acquiring suspected cheating machines that will elect leaders of this country.

Smartmatic again takes the cake. Smartmatic owners again win in a bidding suspect to have been rigged to favor them.

Information technology experts warned keeping the Smartmatic technology run our elections worsens suspicions on the integrity of our elections.

In the last 2013 elections where Sen. Grace Poe came out the topnotcher, experts say Poe’s election result was dubious at best. Many swear that Poe’s winning was a result of “hocus pcos”.

Nothing can be worse than…

EASING THE TENSION

ONE GOOD thing that came out of the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting in Malaysia was the report by China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi that his country’s land reclamation projects at the contested areas in the West Philippine Sea had stopped.

It was a positive development in as much as the said activities are causing tensions not only among the claimant countries that include the Philippines but also on other nations especially United States and Japan that are both criticizing China for militarizing the disputed waters.

Another significant development that came out of the meeting was the fact that the…
