Molding Global Youth Leaders

The youth of Pampanga were asked to be aware and be involved in saving the planet, which their generation and those to come later will habituate, to ensure the sustainability and usefulness of resources.

The call was made by the National Climate Change Commission, which presented the current state of the environment and how much worse it would get if no positive changes are taken to forestall its deterioration.

The Global Youth Summit, held last Friday in San Fernando, Pampanga, sought to create change leaders among Pampanga’s youth to teach their peers and elders in their communities and schools to be involved in reversing the destructive effects of climate change in small mindful acts of concern and discipline.

“We have no other planet and there is no option B,” said the audio- visual presentation of NCCC, which was shown both in the press conference and the well-attended concert in the evening.

Organized by the Global Linkages for the Filipino Youth of businesswoman Bessie Rustia, the summit—which highlights  18 years of organizing Pampanga’s youth and develop them as change leaders—said her group is steadfast in equipping, educating and empowering the Filipino youth  to become respectable citizens and future responsible leaders of the country.

“It has always been the focus of Global Linkages to inculcate on the youth environmental consciousness for the to make a positive impact not only in their communities and also in the whole world. But we cannot go it alone.”Rustia said.

With the summit, Global Linkages institutionalized its partnerships with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Pampanga and with government agencies of like mind and intent.

Global Linkages intends to make this event a pilot and the Youth of Pampanga the country’s model.

Rustia said her group aims to pursue the changemaker leadership program and the youth of Pampanga as the changemakers who could potentially transform the youth in their barangays or communities.

“But they, too, cannot go it alone,” she stressed.

You, our Government partners, and Global Linkages will do this together. We will take care of our youth by providing them moral support, reinforcements needed, and sharing our resources.

Global Linkages is committed to invest in the development of environment-conscious innovators and to develop leadership programs that shall connect the youth with other sectors and disciplines.

Global Linkages will pursue partnering with other foundations, organizations and businesses that share its environmental objectives to increase opportunities for the Filipino youth and eventually be recognized as the global youth.

It is a great honor to be partnering with you in our futuristic endeavor to promote the innate values of the Filipino youth to be perfect models of leadership in their barangays, defenders of what is ethical and proper, and be champions in taking care of our Planet EARTH.
