Actress Yasmien Kurdi finishes magna cum laude

The fruits of hard work and perseverance bore abundantly for actress Yasmien Kurdi, who recently graduated magna cum laude at Arellano University in Legarda Street, Sampaloc, Manila.


Yasmien Yuson Kurdi Soldevilla in real life, she finished Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.


In a solemn investiture held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Kurdi earned an academic honor of magna cum laude despite her tight schedule as an actress, a mother and a wife.


Her whole family including her mom, Miriam Ong-Yuson, was around to cheer for her. Husband Rey Soldevilla, Jr. and daughter Ayesha Zara were proud of her achievement.


Kurdi, a daughter of a Lebanese Muslim Mohammad Kurdi, spent most of her life in Kuwait where her dad worked. She studied her elementary grade at the Jabriya Indian School in Kuwait but she finished her high school and units in Nursing at the New Era University.


In her Instagram post, Yasmien stated: “Noong humiling ako kay Lord, ang gusto ko lang naman ay ang makapag tapos ng kolehiyo, pero sobra sobra pa ang binigay niya. (When I prayed to the Lord I just wanted to finish my college course but He gave me more)I Love You God! Thank you po talaga!!! Salamat po sa lahat ng tao na sumuporta at naniwala sakin ... kung hindi dahil sa inyo hindi ko mararating to. Gusto ko po magpasalamat sa Arellano University sa pag gabay at pag turo sakin ng maraming bagay (Indeed, thanks. Thanks to all the people who supported and believed in me…if not for you I couldn’t reach this far. I would like to thank the Arellano University for guiding and teaching me many things).


She also thanked Dean Balignasay and the College of Arts and Science Department Philipp Flores, Mona,  Julius and Maby of ETEEAP office and all her professors as Arellano that included  Ariel Bautista, Michael Hermogenes, Maristel Roxas, sirs Costales, Morales, Ms. Dacumos, Shiela Vera, Ms. Irene and Sir Marlon Villarin maraming maraming salamat po mga ma’am at sir (thanks a lot, ma’am and sir)


And to the OSA Family, Alumni office and Registrar office, salamat po sa inyo! Lalo na po kay (thanks to you especially to) Odette Borjal na love na love ko (who I love so much), her classmates who became her friends whom she now misses.


Maging busy man ang schedules natin, sana magkita- kita padin tayo. Nawa’y magsilbing inspirasyon ang pagtatapos kong ito sa mga taong gusto tapusin ang pagaaral nila... hindi pa huli ang lahat:) Kapit lang. Laban (To my classmates whom I became friends with, I will miss you! Even if I become busy with my schedules, we will see each other again. I hope my education will serve as an inspiration to all the people who want to finish their studies…it’s not too late:) Just hold on! Fight!).”

At sa Anak ko na si Ayesha Zara, gusto ko lang talaga maging magandang halimbawa sayo anak. Mahal na mahal kita! Laging proud si mama sayo. Sa aking Ina, ang aking pinaka-unang guro... salamat sa pagpapalaki at pagsasakripisyo ng maraming bagay sa buhay mo para sa akin. Para sayo ito Ma! Mahal kita! (Thanks to my family, to my husband Rey for the love, guidance and understanding and the inspiration he has been giving in my life. And to my daughter Ayesha Zara, I would just want to serve as a model to you. I love you so much. Mommy is always proud of you. To my mother who was my first teacher…thanks for rearing me up and for the sacrifices in many ways for me. This is for you, Ma! I love you so much!”
