For Consuelo Zafra Dantes, grandma of well-loved showbiz icon, Dingdong Dantes, seeing her grandson was the greatest birthday gift she could ask for on her 100th birthday. But there was more!

Her granddaughter, Dingdong’s unica hija, Zia, sang for her. Zia was truly mesmerized by her great grandma.

Dingdong’s attendance to the centenary birthday showed him as a dutiful and lovely grandson.

Actor Dingdong recently attended the centennial birthday celebration of his paternal grandmother, Consuelo Zafra Dantes at Prime Hotel in Quezon City.

Albeit the absence of Dingdong’s wife Marian Rivera, the appearance of the actor made the celebrator feel livelier and the occasion more meaningful.

According to Edwin Zafra Dantes, Dingdong’s uncle and the youngest among the Dantes brood, their mom was teary-eyed when she saw her grandson. Sixto Dantes, the actor’s dad was also around during the momentous event.

“Bihirang magkita ang nanay ko at si Dingdong dahil alam mo naman na laging abala ‘yan sa kanyang mga trabaho sa showbiz (My mom and Dingdong seldom see each other because you know how busy he is in in showbiz work),” informed Edwin in our exclusive talk in a café in Cubao.

Being a centenarian, the son quipped, Consuelo is still very energetic.

“Sa isang condo lang kami nakatira pero magkahiwalay kami ng unit ng nanay ko (My mom and I live in the same condo but we’ve got separate units),” he said.

Meanwhile, to the delight of the guests and the celebrant, Zia performed a song for them which garnered a thunderous applause.

“My mom proudly clapped her hands. She was obviously touched by her great granddaughter’s gesture,” Edwin beamed.

According to Dingdong’s Instagram, Zia was mesmerized when she saw her grandma for the first time. “Immediately after the priest’s blessing last Sunday, we approached the celebrant, Mamang Choly, and greeted her. Look at how amazed Zia was upon meeting face-to-face for the first time her 100-year-old Great Grandmother.”
