Showbiz mom, Milagring Santos, dies at 93

Surely, it’s not only Vilma Santos who’s grieving over the passing of her mom Milagros Santos.

           

 Neither is it just the Santos family either.

           

But the whole showbiz industry that’s mourning the death of one of the most colorful moms in the local entertainment industry.

 

Milagros, Mama Milagring to her kith and kin, passed on early morning of Tuesday, April 2, 2019 due to a lingering illness.

 

The tragedy happened a few weeks after Marie Balbacui, one of Mama Milagring’s retinue during her heyday as a producer of VS Films, died.

           

The Santos matriarch was the most endearing mothers among movie stars of Vilma’s generation.

     

“Lahat ng mga reporter no’ng kasagsagan ni Vilma sa pagpoprodyus, mahal na mahal ni Mama Milagring (All the movie reporters were loved by Mama Milagring during Vilma’s heyday as a producer),” exclaimed veteran entertainment writer Alice Vergara.

 

“Kahit napakalayo ng shooting no’n, gaya no’ng ‘Pagputi ng Uwak, Pag-itim ng Tagak’ sa Nagcarlan o kaya ay sa Liliw, Laguna,naku, pinapasundo pa kami ni Mama Milagring sa service vehicle ng production para makabisita kami sa set (Even if the location shooting was far enough like in Nagcarlan or in Liliw, oh my God, Mama Milagring would even asked the service vehicle of the production to fetch us up from some points in Manila to be able to visit the set),” informed Alice.

 

Before her death, Milagros was stricken with Alzheimer’s.   

 

She is survived by her children Emelyn, Vilma, Sonny, Tess and Winnie.

           

Her remains lie in state at the Loyola Memorial Chapels in Sucat, Parañaque City.

            

She was 93.
