Duterte pops in at Aga Muhlach's dad wake

By Boy Villasanta

After paying his last respects to former senator Edgardo J. Angara whose body lies in state at the Heritage Memorial Park and Crematorium in Taguig City, President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night went to the next chapel of the same memorial park to pay his respects to Alvaro “Cheng” Muhlach, father of award-winning actor Aga Muhlach.

Cheng Muhlach, a former actor and producer, died of cardiac arrest on Saturday morning at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City. Later in the day his body was cremated and his ashes placed in an urn to which everyone who knew him paid their last respect.

President Duterte extended his sympathy to the Muhlach family. Aga, who was with wife Charlene Gonzales was very thankful to the President for dropping by. “Maraming salamat (Thank you so much) Pangulong Duterte for paying your respects to my Dad. It meant too much to me and my family.”

Everyone in the chapel was honored by the presence of the President who learned in his visit at Angara’s wake that the remains of Aga’s dad were being paid respects by the dead’s friends and colleagues from the entertainment industry. He didn’t have second thoughts of giving Cheng a memorial visit.

Among the Muhlachs who were also present during Duterte’s appearance aside from Aga and Charlene were siblings Arlene, Almira, Albert, Aaron, AJ and Andrew.
