Maine Mendoza deserves to be heard

Maine Mendoza

by Boy Villasanta

The other half of the unlikely couple AlDub, Maine Mendoza, is vacationing in the US with her family—a respite she has been aching for, for years, ever since her partnership with Alden Richards was hatched in the “kalyeserye” of GMA Network’s noontime show “Eat Bulaga” and adored by millions. There was no stopping for Maine and Alden to make their fans, well, happy and gay.

AlDub is supposedly a lifetime duo as far as AlDub Nation is concerned. That Maine and Alden—as their avid followers perceive—are meant for each other on earth and in heaven.

In other words, the fans dictate it so the better of Mendoza and Richards to follow them or else.

That’s why Maine took it to the social media and expressed her sentiments about the real score between her and Alden. To make the long story short, Yaya Dub explained that she has a life of her own, a happiness she longs and wants to achieve.

That her tandem with Richards is just onscreen and there’s nothing romantic between them as their fans are wont to believe.

Freedom of choice is one right Mendoza wants to emphasize and that is fundamentally a human entitlement.

Her respite in the US must have some repercussions, though, in her career. Would she still be accepted by her fans after a month of absence from their virtual company? Would her star still shine when she comes out from the stellar bodies on tube next year? Would she be extra sweet to Alden or would she prefer Jake Ejercito over him?

These are questions Maine has to bear and answer if she herself toes the line of the prevailing order of fan mentality or she deviates from their dictate.

What is important now is she must be lent ears for her side of the story.
