Romnick Sarmienta returns to showbiz and joins Jericho Rosales in a teleserye

  By Boy Villasanta

Good actors never die. They just take a break from their art.

Actor Romnick Sarmenta is one of them. Sidelined by his other extracurricular activities like his restaurant business and assisting his wife Harlene Bautista in supporting the domestic life of brother-mayor Herbert Bautista, Romnick is back on his acting chops as a contract star, this time, of ABS-CBN. He’s ready anytime soon to shoot a TV drama which has a working title of “Love Will Lead You Back” with another good actor, Jericho Rosales.

According to Harlene, her husband has missed acting before the cameras although he occasionally guests in various shows. “Now he’s more than ready to unleash his passion for acting again,” said Bautista in a tete-a-tete with some members of the movie press in their Salu Restaurant in Scout Fernandez corner Scout Torillo in Quezon City.

“Handang-handa na siya sa taping (He’s ready anytime),” quipped Beb, Harlene’s pet name among friends, colleagues and kin.

“Pero siguro,  mga first week of January 2018 na ang taping. Inip na nga siya (But I think taping will still be on the first week of January next year),” she surmised.

It has been ages since the public saw Nicko in a teleserye until ABS-CBN’s “La Luna Sangre” featured him in a very special role during the first weeks of the fantasy fare.

Fresh from a two-week vacation in the US with Harlene and their five kids, Romnick has recharged to face up with new challenges in his acting career especially in 2018.

The Tejedors (Sarmenta’s paternal name is Tejedor) enjoyed their US sojourn. Harlene volunteered that when they were abroad, they stayed with their friends and some relatives. “Alam mo na naman sa States, magastos. Pag nag-hotel ka, grabe ang gastos. So we stayed in some friend’s houses. We had classmates in college who are in the States so they generously shared their places with us (You know how expensive the States is. If you stay in a hotel, it’s really expensive),” Harlene told the movie press.

Taking a respite however short-lived makes one stress-free. “My only health issue is hypertension,” said Bautista who is also busy promoting a 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “Ang Larawan,” an adaptation of National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin’s play “Portrait of the Artist as Filipino.”

Romnick and Harlene invested some of their savings in the film which stars Rachel Alejandro and Paulo Avelino.

Busying herself, admitted Bautista, vanishes stress.

Take it from Romnick and Harlene.
